TSET Announces Comprehensive Adult-Focused Media Services Request for Proposals, Open Until August 31
OKLAHOMA CITY (July 27, 2023) – The Tobacco Settlement Endowment Trust (TSET) is announcing the release of a funding opportunity for an organization that can offer a full range of adult-focused social marketing services for improving the health of Oklahomans.
The Request for Proposals opens July 27 and closes at 4 p.m. Central Time on August 31, 2023.
The awarded contractor will leverage all forms of marketing media to support TSET’s mission to improve the health of Oklahomans. Proposals should provide evidence of a research-driven company with the ability to reach populations of focus through culturally appropriate campaigns and messaging around tobacco prevention, control and cessation, and obesity prevention and reduction through nutrition, physical activity and healthy lifestyles.
“About 7,500 lives and $1.6 billion in costs are lost each year in Oklahoma. At the same time, tobacco and vape marketing that targets our youth and obesity-related disease continue to put Oklahomans at risk,” said TSET Executive Director Julie Bisbee. “This is why effective messaging and media campaigns educating and inspiring people in our state to live healthier is central to the mission of TSET.”
Customized health communication interventions are proven to be one of the most effective strategies for reducing tobacco use and promoting healthy behaviors in a population. TSET’s communication interventions are informed by the CDC’s Best Practices for Comprehensive Tobacco Control Programs including a supplemental component on health communication practice, CDC’s Childhood Obesity Prevention guidance, marketing best practices and Community Guide Systematic Review for Mass Media Health Communication Campaigns Combined with Health-Related Product Distribution by the American Journal of Preventive Medicine.
The contract for comprehensive adult-focused social marketing services will begin in 2024 and can be renewed annually up to five times for a maximum length of six years.
