TSET Seeks Applicants from Seven Southeastern Oklahoma Counties
OKLAHOMA CITY (May 9, 2022) —The Tobacco Settlement Endowment Trust (TSET) continues to accept applications for a targeted grant opportunity in seven counties in southeastern Oklahoma. Proposals are due June 6.
The program will build upon work previously conducted by the TSET Healthy Living Program in Atoka, Bryan, Marshall, McCurtain, Pittsburg, Pontotoc, and Pushmataha counties. Institutions of common and higher education, public entities, 501 (c)(3) non-profit organizations and tribal entities in the area are invited to apply.
“By building on the work of previous grantees and making use of existing data, these grants offer organizations the opportunity to hit the ground running on projects to improve health in an area of the state where need is greatest,” said Julie Bisbee, TSET executive director.
TSET will provide applicants with the results of each county’s comprehensive community needs assessment as well as the menu of best practice strategies based on assessment results. Potential grantees must select to work on one or more of the preapproved strategies.
Eligible projects include, but are not limited to, local policies to reduce youth access to tobacco, creating or updating an active transportation plan, improving access to nutritious food and increasing the number of tobacco-free environments across locally owned organizations.
Awards will vary based on scope of work, with maximum awards of $120,000 per fiscal year for up to three years. There is no matching requirement. Applicants will be notified of awards in September and contracts begin October 1.
