OKLAHOMA CITY (Aug. 30, 2021) — Oklahoma public school districts and school sites can soon apply for TSET Healthy Incentive Grants. The application period will open on Wednesday, September 1, 2021, and end at 4 p.m. on Friday, October 1, 2021.
“Schools play a vital role in promoting health to the next generation of Oklahomans,” said Julie Bisbee, TSET executive director. “Through the school incentive grants, TSET supports our partners in education and recognizes schools taking steps to teach students about eating right, moving more and being tobacco-free.”
To be eligible, school districts and school sites must adopt policy and implement best and promising practices encouraging tobacco-free environments, improved nutrition, increased physical activity and enhance employee wellness. Policy requirements for these grants help to create a learning environment that establishes and supports healthy behaviors for students, teachers and staff.
Grant funds may be used for a variety of projects that improve health, including playgrounds, hydration stations and curriculum. Funds are limited. Applicants are encouraged to apply early, as grants are awarded on a first come, first serve basis.
Communities will be invited to apply for incentive grants starting November 1, 2021.
