Drumright Utility Trust Receives $438,131 Loan with 100% Loan Forgiveness for Water Infrastructure from the OWRB

OKLAHOMA CITY – The Drumright Utility Trust (Trust) received approval for a $438,131 loan with 100% loan forgiveness on Tuesday from the Oklahoma Water Resources Board (OWRB) to improve the Trust’s water infrastructure. Construction of upgrades and improvements to the water system will be financed by the Oklahoma Drinking Water State Revolving Fund (DWSRF).

The Trust operates a public water system that provides safe, reliable drinking water to residents and businesses in the community. Many of the system’s water lines have reached the end of their useful life, leading to increased maintenance needs and potential service disruptions. To address these issues and restore compliance, the Trust will use loan funds to replace aging water lines and associated components throughout the system. These improvements will enhance reliability and system efficiency by ensuring consistent service.

Lori Johnson, chief of the OWRB’s Financial Assistance Division, calculated that the Trust’s customers will save an estimated $707,431 compared to traditional financing.

“Drumright has long needed new water lines to replace some old and deteriorating infrastructure,” said Sen. Randy Grellner, R-Cushing. “Thanks to this loan, that long-overdue upgrade is finally becoming a reality.”

“I’m grateful to see continued investment in essential infrastructure like Drumright’s water system,” said House Speaker Kyle Hilbert, R-Bristow. “Reliable access to clean water is a cornerstone of healthy communities, and this funding will ensure residents have dependable service for years to come. I appreciate the partnership between local leaders and the Oklahoma Water Resources Board in making this project possible.”

Julie Cunningham, Executive Director of the OWRB, and Rob Singletary, Executive Director of the Oklahoma Department of Environmental Quality (ODEQ), express their sincere appreciation to State Legislators from the Drumright area for their continued support of the DWSRF program.

The DWSRF program is administered by the OWRB and ODEQ with partial funding from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).  The DWSRF program has provided approximately $2.4 billion in drinking water loans to provide communities with the resources necessary to maintain and improve the infrastructure that protects our valuable water resources statewide.

Since 1983, the Oklahoma Water Resources Board has approved over $8.3 billion in loans and grants for water and wastewater infrastructure improvements throughout Oklahoma.
