Fort Cobb Reservoir Master Conservancy District receives $1,409,648 grant for system improvements
OKLAHOMA CITY –The Fort Cobb Reservoir Master Conservancy District (District) received approval for $1,409,648 in funding Tuesday from the Oklahoma Water Resources Board (OWRB) to improve the District’s system infrastructure. Improvements to the system will be financed by the Oklahoma American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) grant program.
These proceeds will be used to purchase two generators; one to operate a sleeve valve and the other to support the system's SCADA operation in the event of power loss. Additionally, there are numerous construction projects which will be implemented throughout the District.
Joe Freeman, chief of the OWRB’s Financial Assistance Division, calculated that the District’s customers will save an estimated $2,182,900 compared to traditional financing.
The ARPA grant program is administered by the OWRB with funding from the U.S. Department of the Treasury and appropriated through the Water and Wastewater American Rescue Plan Act grants program. This OWRB program has been structured to provide communities and other eligible entities with the financial resources necessary to address water and wastewater infrastructure needs within their systems. Since 1983 the Water Resources Board has approved over $7.3 billion in loans and grants for water and wastewater infrastructure improvements throughout Oklahoma.
“We are grateful to State Senator Darcy Jech and State Representative Toni Hasenbeck for their continued support of our financial assistance programs,” said Julie Cunningham, Executive Director of the OWRB.
"I'm glad that Fort Cobb will soon have a new, reliable generator in the event of a power outage during severe weather, as well as the support for numerous construction projects in the area," Representative Hasenbeck said. "Thank you to the Oklahoma Water Resources Board and the Fort Cobb Reservoir Master Conservancy District for their work on this issue, which I know will help improve the lives of residents for years to come."
