Employment vs. Unemployment

August 2025: Oklahoma's unemployment rate held steady at a seasonally adjusted 3.1 percent while nonfarm payroll employment added 1,000 jobs (0.1 percent) over the month.

State Unemployment Rates

In August, unemployment rates were higher in 3 states, lower in 2 states, and stable in 45 states, including Oklahoma and the District of Columbia.

County Unemployment Rates

August 2025: Jobless rates were higher than a year earlier in 33 counties,  lower in 27 counties, and unchanged in 17 counties.

Job Openings vs. Unemployment

July 2025: Oklahoma's number of job openings and the number of unemployed persons little changed over the month.

Job openings rates decreased in 3 states, increased in 1 state, and were little changed in 46 states, including Oklahoma and the District of Columbia in July. Over the month, the national job openings rate changed little.

Oklahoma’s job openings rate increased 0.3 percentage point to 5.5 percent in July. Over the month, the national job openings rate decreased 0.1 percentage point to 4.3 percent.

Job openings data was gathered from the Bureau of Labor Statistics Job Openings and Labor Turnover Survey (JOLTS) and unemployment data from Local Area Unemployment Statistics (LAUS).
