PPAT Scholarships

OEQA offers a PPAT Examination Fee Waiver Scholarship to assist Oklahoma educators in achieving certification. This scholarship covers the PPAT examination fees, reducing financial barriers to certification for aspiring and early career, in-service educators.

This Scholarship is open to candidates meeting all three criteria: 1) teachers seeking teacher certification in Oklahoma; 2) teachers planning to teach in Oklahoma for at least one year following certification; and 3) teachers who have not received the scholarship before.

Selection Criteria

Per Title 218:10-8-1, applications will be reviewed based on the following criteria:

  1. Degree which applicant conveys scholarship need
  2. Conveyance of commitment to teaching in an accredited school district in Oklahoma for a minimum of one (1) year
  3. Demonstration of professional disposition

Scholarship recipients will be selected based on scores determined within the application process, ranking from highest to lowest based on application score. Scholarships are subject to availability of funds.

Recipients of this scholarship will receive one PPAT Fee Waiver valid for use in specified Fall or Spring registration periods. This payment is made in accordance with Title 218:10-8-1, which outlines the following rules and obligations:

  1. OEQA will make payment for competency examination fees for each scholarship candidate upon signing a Letter of Intent.
  2. If the scholarship recipient does not teach at a school district in Oklahoma upon achieving certification, they shall be required to reimburse OEQA for the full amount awarded.

Please note that this scholarship is a code to waive the fee at the point of registration. We are not able to offer any reimbursement for tests already paid for at this time.

How to Apply

The application period will open again in Spring 2025.
