About OEQA

History

In 2012 the signing of S.B. 1797 marked a significant milestone in Oklahoma's educational landscape. This legislation brought together two respected educational entities, the Oklahoma Commission for Teacher Preparation and the Office of Accountability, under one unified agency with a common goal: to enhance the quality of education from preschool to post-secondary levels across the state. This union culminated in the creation of the Office of Educational Quality and Accountability (OEQA).

The dedicated efforts of OEQA’s team have been pivotal in shaping the organization's mission statement and developing a strategic organizational plan. Supported by effective leadership and guidance from our oversight board, the Commission for Educational Quality and Accountability, OEQA has swiftly established its presence and influence within Oklahoma's educational framework. However, we recognize that lasting impact requires steadfast dedication to our core mission: to inform, improve, and innovate.
