- HR: Increased Training; Recruiting; Salary Planning and FTE maximization.
- OGCD: OGIMS continued development and update of RBDMS (OGIMS and RBDMS are both databases that will tie into each other).
- Increased field enforcement presence: Division reorganization focused on increased compliance and consistency between the districts.
- IIJA Federal Grant: Continuing with the initial grant and starting the new formula grant (application due by Dec. 31, 2023).
- Transportation: Division reorganization focused on increased compliance, consistency and more investment in the workforce training. Increased collaboration with local agencies to offer mutual aid as needed. Port of Entry/Weigh Station improvements. Working with partner agencies on the upcoming Task Force to improve collaboration and efficiency.
- PUD: Working with industry on major improvements to the OUSF. Focus will be to ensure critical resources are available in rural Oklahoma, while avoiding duplication of efforts.

- Drone and Thermal Camera: DEQ plans to utilize an integrated drone and thermal camera to detect leaking components at Oil & Gas facilities. Laser sensors to detect specific pollutants may also be included.
- Laboratory Supplies: DEQ is especially interested in PFAS related suppliers and proficiency test sample providers.
- Accounts Receivable/Billing Software Replacement: DEQ processes approximately 40,000 transactions annually that total $63 million incollected fees. Scope includes implementation of an agencywide fee schedule, including a catalog of regulated fee information including approximately 935 fee types, calculations, bill types, authorizations, aging parameters, fee managers, approximately 496 permit transaction types.
- Technical and Operational Laboratory Training: DEQ is looking for technical and operational training for laboratory staff with subjects rangingfrom Quality Management System internal audits and ethics to analytical testing.
- Field Use Technology: The department has an immediate need to replace existing IT equipment for our field inspectors. The requirements for this equipment include the superior ability for outside visibility, long-term power source and long-range wifi/internet capability. The quantity need is for 10 comprehensive units.
- Minerals Reclamation Projects: One of the agency’s roles is to insure that minerals permitted sites are restored after mining has ceased. With today’s inflation factors and supply chain limitations, the cost of utilizing our available financial resources for these reclamation projects is a challenge. Finding construction reclamation and earthwork vendors who can plan, implement and complete these reclamation projects is another priority for the Department of Mines.
- Constituent Outreach: The agency is experiencing an influx of citizen communication from residential populations adjacent to long-standing mining operations. Being able to communicate effectively the statutory standards and how mine sites operate from a grassroots perspective has become a frequent issue. The areas of concern range from the use of explosives, to water usage and environmental impacts. This outreach need has also become a priority for the Department of Mines.
- RWPS South side valve and actuator replacement: Existing equipment has been in service for many years and is showing signs of age and degradation. Replacement parts are becoming difficult to find and the maintenance time and cost is expected to increase. Replacing with new equipment will ensure the reliability of the system is maintained going forward. Replacement and commissioning of south header valves, actuators, spool pieces, expansion joints and instrumentation at the River Pump station.
- GREC 2 Lime Unloading Baghouse: The requirement to replace the lime unloading building filter bags arises from their gradual deterioration and wear overtime. These filter bags hold a pivotal function in capturing and confining particulate matter and dust that emerges during the process of lime unloading.
- Pensacola Dam Trolly Cart Handrails on spillways: Handrails need repaired or replaced along with concreate repairs needed to the footing of the handrails.
- Pensacola Dam Trash Racks: Trash racks keep debris out of the turbines. Damaged trash racks could fail and allow debris to enter turbines and cause damage, which could lead to costly repairs and long outages.
- Kerr Dam Gantry Crane Refurbishment: Scrape and clean crane-painted surfaces. Then recoat with matching grey paint on the main structures. All moving part/pinch point guards should be orange, handrails, and ladder cages should be safety yellow with slip reducing tape, or coatings added to all ladder rungs. Install new updated lighting, conduits and electrical systems.
- Migration to new licensing system (Thentia) in FY 2024.
