Monthly IS Updates

Customer Success and IT Operations

  • OMES is collaborating with Amazon Web Services to provide a customizable call center solution aimed at delivering exceptional customer service. The solution, powered by AWS Connect, offers scalability and customization through open APIs and development tools, allowing it to adapt to diverse business needs.

The Customer Success team is reaching out to agencies with call centers to kick off discussions about this comprehensive solution.

    Upcoming projects:

  • We are updating passcode requirements for Intune enrolled iOS/iPadOS mobile devices. Starting on August 6, passcodes will be changed from alphanumeric to numeric options. This change will simplify the login process.

Networks and Servers

  • The Server team is conducting monthly Microsoft Patching for Servers. Servers will pick up patches and boot between 2 a.m. and 5 a.m. until August 4. Customers should not experience any disturbances during this process.
  • The network team continues the process of replacing network hardware across the state to refresh end-of-lease equipment, standardize all older network configurations to the current OMES standard and upgrade other equipment to increase functionality and performance.

In July and continuing through August, the network team has, or will be servicing:

  1. Office of the Attorney General.
  2. Oklahoma Human Services.
  3. Oklahoma Department of Rehabilitation Services.
  4. Oklahoma Employee Security Commission.
  5. Oklahoma Correctional Industries.

Upcoming projects:

  • Third quarter core network maintenance is scheduled for Sunday, August 4th, from noon to 6 p.m. The purpose of this maintenance is to update network equipment and ensure state assets are protected with the latest software updates and security solutions.

Cyber Command

  • We would like to remind you to stay vigilant while using your Outlook email account. Cyber Command has observed an increase in phishing attempts involving compromised accounts from outside sources. These phishing emails appear as OneDrive shared file links from individuals you may already know. If you click the link and enter your email address, you'll receive a PIN to access the file. Opening the file can lead to the theft of your account credentials, including multi-factor authentication information, enabling the attacker to gain full access to your account.

Any time you receive files or links to files unexpectedly, please maintain high suspicion.  If you have any question as to whether an email or attached file or link to file is safe, remember to use the "Phish Alert Report" button within Outlook and our Cyber Operations team will review every submission individually.

Upcoming Projects:

  • Windows 10 will be migrated to Windows 11 on all workstations in October 2025.  Testing is underway.  If your agency is interested in an early adoption of Windows 11, please contact Cyber Command.

Application Development

  • On Aug. 20, 2024, OMES will roll out an enhancement to Workday@OK and ServiceNow that will automatically create offboarding tickets based on the termination dates in Workday@OK for those employees leaving the state. For most separations, there will no longer be a need to complete an offboarding form. Here are a few exceptions to this new process:
    1. Interagency transfers – Since employees who transfer from agency to agency are not terminated within Workday@OK, an offboarding form must still be entered through ServiceNow.
    2. Agencies not fully utilizing Workday@OK – Agencies and employees that are not performing HR functions in Workday@OK will need to continue using the ServiceNow offboarding form.
    3. Contractors – Terminations for contractors not currently in Workday@OK (or VNDLY) will still require using the ServiceNow offboarding form.

For employee separations that are an immediate need or a perceived heightened risk – In addition to terminating in Workday@OK and creating a ticket (if necessary based on above exceptions), please contact the OMES Service Desk at 405-521-2444 to alert OMES personnel.

Data Services

  • The Data Services team is excited to offer workshops focused on State Data Strategy and Emerging Technology Strategic Planning. These sessions will help your team build robust roadmaps, leverage cutting-edge technologies and enhance data-driven decision-making. Please reach out to jessica.gateff@omes.ok.gov to learn more.
  • The Data Services team is committed to harnessing the power of emerging technologies like Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Generative AI (GenAI) to automate processes, provide real-time data insights, and improve decision-making across state agencies.

Check out the State of Oklahoma Emerging Technology Playbook for an overview of how these technologies can enhance efficiency, effectiveness and service delivery. Please reach out to Deputy Director of Data Services Jessica Gateff to get started with emerging technologies or submit a project initiation request
