OESC Launches Revamped Digital Identity Verification System

VerifyOK is Part of the Agency's Digital Transformation Efforts

OKLAHOMA CITY – The Oklahoma Employment Security Commission (OESC) announced today the official hard launch of its revamped digital identity verification system, VerifyOK. This new tool will help make the claims process more efficient and assist in the prevention of fraudulent activity.

OESC launched the first version of an identity verification tool in 2020, which was instituted during the pandemic to help the agency fight the influx of fraud experienced during the pandemic. Since that time, OESC’s IT teams have worked to create a completely customized tool built from the ground up to better support the agency’s needs.

“This launch is crucial to the agency’s efforts to fight fraudulent actors and protect the integrity of Oklahoma’s UI Trust Fund,” said Trae Rahill, OESC Executive Director. “We are so proud of the full team at OESC for all the hard work and collaboration to get VerifyOK officially launched for Oklahomans. This technology will allow the agency to safeguard services from fraud and ensure all benefits end up in the right hands.”

VerifyOK soft launched in mid-September for a trial period before today’s statewide hard launch. The agency has already seen numerous claimants successfully go through the new process and has seen success in deterring fraudulent actors and actions. All claimants will now go through the digital identity verification process (VerifyOK) to file an unemployment claim.

Some of the new features in VerifyOK include:

  • Individuals will now take a live capture of their face to ensure it matches their ID, instead of static "selfie” images.
  • IDs will now be cross matched with all state DMVs, not just Oklahoma's.
  • If the name on the account doesn't match the name on the ID, the account will be flagged for investigation.
