Suicide Prevention Month

Hope starts with a conversation.

September is Suicide Prevention Month. ODMHSAS is joining communities across Oklahoma to raise awareness, strengthen connections and remind Oklahomans that help is available.

Whether you share a You Good? graphic, create a Wall of Hope, wear teal or purple or simply check in with someone you care about, you can help keep Oklahomans safe by raising awareness about suicide.

Key Dates

Sept. 8: 988 Day

All month: Events across Oklahoma
Organizations and communities across the state are hosting activities and events to raise awareness and connect Oklahomans with resources.

Sometimes checking in starts with two words: You good?

You Good? is an Oklahoma campaign built around a simple idea: check in with the people around you and make it easier to talk about mental health and substance use.

The 2026 campaign includes messages created to reach populations at increased risk or who may face unique barriers to seeking support, including:

  • Veterans
  • Older adults
  • Rural Oklahomans
  • Middle-aged men
  • Tribal communities

Sometimes “You good?” is just a question.
Sometimes it’s an invitation to really talk.
Ask it. Mean it. Listen to the answer.
And if you need someone to talk to, call or text 988.

Not every conversation starts with “I need help."
Sometimes it starts with:
“I’ve had a rough week.”
“I haven’t been sleeping.”
“I’m just not myself lately.”
Whatever your first words are, 988 is here to listen. Call or text 988.

If it’s been a while, reach out. Ask how they’re doing. Stay on the phone a little longer.
Sometimes checking in matters more than you know. If more support is needed, call or text 988.
