Read Across Oklahoma

Read Across Oklahoma, the state’s premiere literacy event for preschool and early grade children, is held annually in April. The day starts with a free book giveaway at the Oklahoma City Zoo and Botanical Garden. A variety of edu-tainment stations are positioned throughout the zoo. 

The 2022 Read Across Oklahoma event was held on April 12, 2022, and featured performances by the author Dennis Mathew. He lead an interactive singalong and read his book, My Wild First Day of School, at the Sea Lion Presentation Stadium.

Read Across Oklahoma Video

The 2022 Read Across Oklahoma video features entertaining story times, author Dennis Mathew reading My Wild First Day of School, fun sing-a-along songs, our favorite zoo animals, interesting animal facts and more! It all comes together to help encourage preschoolers and early grade schoolers to love reading... and animals. Watch it with your little ones and enjoy!
