Manicuring

Manicuring is the practice of cutting, trimming, polishing, coloring, tinting, cleansing the nails, or massaging, cleaning, treating or beautifying the hands and feet of any person.


Manicurist is a person licensed by the Board to perform nail care services to the public in a place licensed by the Board where nail care/manicuring/pedicuring services may be performed.

Exam Requirements

  • Has completed at least the eighth (8th) grade
  • Is over the age of sixteen (16)
  • Complete 600 hours of study or equivalent number of credit hours
  • Exam Fee - $50.00
  • Pass a written and practical exam with a minimum of 75%

  • Manicure implements                            
  • Polish remover
  • Wet sanitizer/sanitizing solution           
  • Towels (4 minimum)
  • Cuticle cream or oil                              
  • Cotton balls or pledgets
  • Manicure bowl/Nail brush                     
  • Liquid soap/water (No water source in exam room bring your OWN water)
  • Massage/emollient cream                    
  • Red polish/base coat/top coat
  • Refuse bag for disposable items
  • Odorless products/supplies needed for the application of a free form (sculptured) nail and Natural full well tips (no French Tips) with clear acrylic overlay product (odorless)
