Cosmetician


Cosmetician is a person licensed by the Board to perform patron services limited to hair arranging and application of makeup, including, but not limited to, using hairstyling tools and products. Services must be performed in a licensed establishment.

Exam Requirements

  • Has completed the eighth grade
  • Is over the age of sixteen (16)
  • Complete 600 hours of study or equivalent number of credit hours
  • Exam Fee - $35.00
  • Pass a written and practical exam  with a minimum of 75%

  • Towels (2 minimum)
  • Cotton or Neck Strip
  • Comb out cape
  • Hair brush (3 minimum)
  • Tail Comb/utility comb for backcombing and for both styles
  • One large plastic bag (for disposable items and other refuse and supplies)
  • Sanitizing agent (for candidate’s hands)
  • Cream or liquid foundation
  • Face powder
  • Blush/cheek color
  •  Eye shadow /highlighter
  • Eyebrow color
  • Mascara
  • Eyeliner
  • Lipstick or lip color
  • Lip liner
  • Disposable make up applicators/spongers
  • Spatulas
  • Make up cape
  • Tissue
  • Bobby pins/hairpins/shadow pins
  • NON aerosol hair spray
