OKLAHOMA CITY — The Tobacco Settlement Endowment Trust (TSET) is opening two grant opportunities to improve the health of Oklahomans. TSET will post guidelines and application documents for TSET Built Environment Grants and TSET Discovery Grants on the agency’s website on Tuesday, Nov. 19. The deadline to apply is Wednesday, Feb. 12, 2025.
“These grants provide communities with the resources to create lasting health improvements,” said Julie Bisbee, TSET’s executive director. “Through local projects and innovative programs, communities across Oklahoma can tackle health challenges and create healthier places for people to live, work and connect.”
TSET Built Environment Grants: Making Public Spaces Healthier
TSET Built Environment Grants fund changes to public spaces, making them safer and more encouraging for physical activity and active lifestyles. These grants offer up to $80,000 for planning and design projects or up to $100,000 a year over two years for shovel-ready construction projects.
TSET Discovery Grants: Supporting Innovative Health Programs
TSET Discovery Grants support new and expanded health programs to tackle Oklahoma’s most pressing health issues. These programs focus in four areas: preventing tobacco use, children’s health, general health improvement or senior wellness. Discovery Grants provide up to $250,000 each year for up to three years.
Both grant opportunities are open to nonprofits, public agencies and entities, tribal nations and schools. Eligible groups must be located in Oklahoma and be ready to begin when their projects are funded. The TSET Board of Directors is expected to make grant awards in May 2025.
The TSET Board of Directors has allocated up to $2 million for Discovery Grants and up to $1 million for Built Environment Grants. These are competitive grants. The total amount awarded will be based on the strength of proposals.
