Celebrate National Farmers Market Week With Shape Your Future

Wednesday, July 31, 2024

OKLAHOMA CITY (July 31, 2024) — The 25th annual National Farmers Market Week runs from Aug. 4 to 10, celebrating the significant impact local farmers have on the health and well-being of their communities. Shape Your Future, a program of the Tobacco Settlement Endowment Trust (TSET), has resources for Oklahomans hoping to participate.

"Farmers markets offer a unique opportunity to connect with the community while enjoying fresh, locally grown produce," said Julie Bisbee, TSET executive director. "Shopping at these markets enhances a family’s nutrition, supports local farmers and boosts the local economy. It’s a win-win, fostering both personal and community health.

Farmers markets play a crucial role in building strong communities by providing space for neighbors to connect and support one another. They increase access to fresh fruits and vegetables, promoting healthier lifestyles.

This August, look for watermelons, tomatoes, peppers, eggplant, okra, squash, cucumbers and other in-season produce — and celebrate National Farmers Market Week the first week of August!

Shape Your Future offers a variety of resources to help Oklahomans make the most of National Farmers Market Week:
