Per Title 70, Okla. Statutes, Section 17-103, except as provided in the Alternate Retirement Plan for Comprehensive Universities Act, the membership in TRS consists of:
A. Classified Personnel: All classified personnel must join TRS as a condition of their employment; and
B. Nonclassified Personnel: Prior to July 1, 2021, all full-time nonclassified optional personnel regularly employed for more than one (1) year may join TRS subject to the rules and regulations adopted by the System. On or after July 1, 2021, all nonclassified optional personnel regularly employed for twenty (20) hours or more per week may join TRS upon hiring, subject to provisions of Oklahoma law and rules and regulations adopted by the System.
Employees of a charter school, as defined in Oklahoma statutes, may join TRS if the Board of Trustees approves the school's application for membership.
