International Self-Care Day is recognized each year on July 24, and it’s encouraged that everyone, including ODMHSAS employees, practice self-care regularly. We asked employees to describe what self-care means to them and how they practice self-care. Read on for self-care ideas!

No matter what self-care means to you, remember that practicing self-care is not selfish. Taking time for yourself to do the things you enjoy is a great way to take care of your mental well-being. If you don’t know where to start, ODMHSAS employees have given a few self-care activities they enjoy below.
My favorite way to practice self-care is...
"Going to the gym!"
"Work in my garden and tending to my plants."
"Playing Animal Crossing."
"Listening to true-crime podcasts."
My favorite way to practice self-care is...
"Meditating and doing yoga."
"Walking in my backyard bare foot and meditate, play with my dogs, visit friends."
"Having light saber fights with my kiddo, watching a cheesy action movie, and reading in bed."
"Reading a book or cooking."
My favorite way to practice self-care is...
"Being outside, going for a walk, gardening, calling a friend, or reading a book with a cup of tea/coffee."
"Through prayer and worship."
"Journaling."
"Spend time with my partner."
