Participants will gain an understanding of practical soil mechanics and its relationship to the stability of slopes and walls, both shored and unshored. The course also covers various types of protective systems and provides hands-on experience with soil-testing instruments. Topics Covered: ✅ OSHA standards for excavation and trenching safety ✅ Soil mechanics and classification techniques ✅ Protective systems, including timber and hydraulic shoring ✅ Hands-on training with penetrometers, torvane shears, and engineering rods ✅ Employer safety compliance and training requirements Upon completion, participants will have the skills to assess excavation safety, classify soil types, determine appropriate protective systems, and ensure compliance with OSHA regulations.
