LEGISLATIVE UPDATE

OSBOE is pleased to announce that two crucial bills have recently passed through legislation and have been signed into law by the Governor.

SB1716 - This was a request bill from the D.O.'s and adds language to the Open Meetings Act which allows for an Executive Session to be called when reviewing and discussing mental health documents related to a licensee under investigation or review.  The bill assists in the continuation of OSBOE's efforts to protect sensitive mental health records.

HB2958 - This bill removes the statutory language which requires the Osteopathic Board be included in Oklahoma Sunset Law (Title 75 Sections 3901-3921).  They made the Board permanent.  This alleviates many of the concerns regarding consolidation and diminished influence of the Osteopathic Board.  Please tell your elected representatives how much we all appreciate their support for maintaining high standards for physicians in Oklahoma.

As we move forward, we eagerly anticipate the positive impact these bills will have on the Osteopathic profession in Oklahoma.

FRAUD ALERT

We continue to receive reports of fraudulent phone calls to licensees.  Callers will identify themselves as investigators or board staff and attempt to extort money due to a suspension or action on your license.  Please continue to report these calls to our office and do not give your personal and/or payment information to these individuals.
