Counties Beginning to Offer COVID Vaccines

Wednesday, January 06, 2021

Oklahoma City, Wednesday, January 6, 2021:

Dear Oklahoma Osteopathic Physicians:

The State Board of Osteopathic Examiners has learned that many county health departments are now providing COVID-19 vaccinations for the following populations:

  • All Health Care Providers and their staff (regardless of age)
    • While we have little guidance on what form of identification is required, our office would recommend that all licensed osteopathic physicians print a copy of their wallet card to prove their status with our Board—it is also recommended that you bring an ID from your office clinic or hospital (if available).
      • If you have activated your account on our new licensing system (Thentia), you can access your account by clicking here.
      • If you have not activated your account on our new licensing system (Thentia), you can do so now by clicking here. When authorizing your account, you will use the email address that you receive this current email.
    • While we have little guidance on what form of identification is required, our office would recommend that medical staff bring a check stub, W2, or letter from their employing physician memorializing their employment status with the health care clinic.
  • All First Responders (regardless of age)
    • While we have little guidance on what form of identification is required, our office would recommend that all first responders bring proof of their employment through a check stub, W2, or letter from their employer.
  • All Individuals Age 65 or Older

Please note that you must be an Oklahoma resident to receive a vaccine through the county health departments. It is recommended that any Oklahoman seeking a vaccine bring their state-issued ID to help prove residency. Information for specific dates and times for vaccination clinics can be found on any local county health departments' Facebook pages or by calling them. For links to all of Oklahoma’s individual county health departments’ Facebook pages, click here. You should expect long wait times when calling individual county health departments.

Oklahoma County has begun vaccinating patients who are 65 or older by appointment only.  For more information about the vaccines in Oklahoma County, please visit the local county health department’s website by clicking here.  Tulsa County is accepting appointments for front-line works and first responders. On a personal note, I wanted to take a minute to say "Thank you!" Thank you for all that you've done to treat Oklahoma patients through this tough time.  On behalf of the Board, we are very proud of our osteopathic physicians and stand ready to help with any questions or issues you may have regarding your Oklahoma license.

You may reach Board staff by email (support@osboe.ok.gov), phone (405/528-8625), or mail.  To contact me directly, please call the office or email me at mleake@osboe.ok.gov.
