ReMerge, a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping women break the cycle of incarceration, celebrated another successful graduation of its Career Pathway Program. Nine mothers recently completed the program, earning a Google certificate in IT support.

In partnership with the State of Oklahoma’s Grow with Google program, ReMerge is providing women with the opportunity to explore new career paths in the technology field. By equipping them with the necessary skills and certifications, ReMerge is helping these women achieve financial independence and support their families.

"All of their hard work will open new doors in the IT field and help them earn a family-sustainable wage to support not just themselves but their beautiful children," said Erin Engelke, chief executive officer of ReMerge. "And that's what ReMerge is all about, helping women reunite with their families and be able to thrive in this amazing community."

Samantha Rooney, a graduate of ReMerge's Career Pathway Program, is now an end-user support specialist for the Office of Management and Enterprise Services. An excellent example of perseverance and leadership, Rooney quickly distinguished herself among her peers. Her exceptional character and determination to overcome adversity have made her an invaluable asset to the OMES team.

In recognition of her outstanding achievements, Rooney was recently honored as a NextGen 30 Under 30. Sharing her journey, Rooney offered advice to the new graduates: "I won't sugarcoat it – the path to success can be challenging. It took me five months after graduating from ReMerge to find a job at OMES. There will be uncertainties and setbacks, but I promise you, if you persevere, trust the process and believe in yourself, the rewards will be worth it."

ReMerge aims to make a positive impact on Oklahoma's high rate of female incarceration and to serve as an example of the power of rehabilitation. Its mission is to help restore mothers and families through a comprehensive diversion program that includes treatment, recovery and hope.

“One of my favorite things about ReMerge is the community of sisterhood,” said Emily Gise, Grow with Oklahoma program director. Gise expressed that she gets emotional every time she walks into the ReMerge building because she realizes the significant impact the organization has on the community.

As a result of ReMerge's efforts, the State of Oklahoma has saved over $51 million by providing a pathway for mothers to reintegrate into society rather than facing incarceration and separation from their children.
