CPO Program & Training

About CPO Program & Training

The Certified Procurement Officer Program is designed to provide foundational understanding of procurement and acquisition processes and the hierarchy of legislation and procurement rules in state procurement.

The State Legislature recognizes the importance and complexity of the public procurement process and therefore has vested OMES Central Purchasing with the authority to train and educate state government employees with purchasing responsibilities. Under this authority, Central Purchasing has developed a course of instruction, a subsequent final assessment, as well as ongoing education for Certified Procurement Officers.

Goals

  1. Increase the velocity of state procurement by utilizing and teaching innovative techniques
  2. Increase the efficiency of our financial systems and internal processes
  3. Improve the quality of the customer service we provide to our CPOs

CPO External CEU Reporting

To claim external CEU credits that have previously been approved, submit a ServiceNow Training Credit Review & Approval Request. If the CEU credits have not been previously approved, please complete and submit Form 022 to procurement.training@omes.ok.gov.

The Procurement Training Team maintains a list of all approved courses eligible for CPO credits. This list is published on Form 006, which can be accessed in the CP Library. New approved courses will be added throughout the year as they are identified.
