The ODMHSAS Employee Appreciation Celebration is an annual event held to recognize the fantastic contributions of our staff across the state. EAC is a way for the agency as a whole to express its deep gratitude for all the amazing ways our employees impact Oklahomans. Kristie’s unwavering positivity, integrity, and valuable contributions reflect her strong commitment to the success of one of our Children’s Programs. She actively facilitates clinician and team member appointments, as well as reaching out to consumers through various channels to ensure their well-being and attendance. Raven is a future leader of this organization! She motivates her team and has made several positive impacts and changes for the hospital. Raven has been with the team for 6 months and created a discombobulated policy review system in a 3-month period and revamped an entire chart review process! We are grateful to have Raven on our team!
Angie works to make sure our medical and mental health clinics are managed with quality care and compassion. She has had many long days supporting consumers and making sure no one is overlooked. She shows up early and is willing to stay until every patient is taken care of at the clinic. In her short time within the agency, Stephnie has already made a significant impact. Meghan has built strong relationships with clients, staff, and community partners, becoming a trusted presence in the office. Over the past two years, Meghan has shown remarkable growth in managing Altus caseload records, including treatment plan updates, admissions, discharges, and quality improvement lines. Her collaboration with staff ensures high-quality care for our clients, and she plays a vital role in onboarding new team members by educating them on client charts and the importance of accurate record-keeping. Her strong work ethic, caring nature, and commitment to our ICARE values highlight her dedication to providing excellent care for our clients and support for her colleagues. Michelle juggles a variety of responsibilities as an administrative assistant for outpatient satellites. Since moving into her current role, she has been able to assist all five satellites and trains new staff! When the day gets busy, she works well under pressure and will always maintain a friendly presence among consumers. We are fortunate to have her on our team – thank you, Michelle!
Carmen is an Administrative Officer Extraordinaire! Staff says Carmen is ambitious, empowering and a self-starter! She is self-trained in Microsoft Excel and Power BI and if Carmen does not know how to complete a task, she will find a way to get it done. Carmen is the ideal team player and goes out of her way to help her staff. Carmen, thank you for your hard work and kindness!

This mighty team gathers and produces 988 data from Solari for Leadership and Behavioral Health providers statewide. They track individual consumer journeys through various providers and care levels using reports and dashboards. Their work optimizes resource use and enhances outcomes for those receiving 988 and other behavioral health services. The team embodies ODMHSAS core values, we are grateful to work alongside them!
The Griffin Pharmacy team enhanced our safety standards by improving their processes. They went above and beyond by assisting other facilities in implementing this interface, benefiting consumers and nursing staff across the state. The Yellow Binder Project was introduced to support staff and manage critical incidents more effectively. With an average of 1-2 incidents per day, staff often struggle to input information accurately. These binders are placed throughout the facility and include all relevant policies and procedures. Staff are trained to use them, making it easier for both new and experienced employees to handle critical incidents. Thank you for being an innovative asset to our team!

This award stands for teamwork and innovative efforts. These team members are able to work together to break down silos and foster a spirit of team work to accomplish their goals. Below are the finalists for the Central Office Synergy Award:
Melissa Miller, Tracy Leeper, Robert Clark, David WrightWith the implementation of managed care came many challenges for healthcare providers, but even more significant challenges for behavioral health providers due to differing workflows and billing practices. This team gave frequent presentations, participated in over 50 meetings with the CEs and/or providers, and answered numerous questions through emails and phone calls. ODMHSAS staff identified gaps in documentation and training for these providers and advocated for collaborative meetings with covered entities. These four, as well as many other ODMHSAS staff, are striving to ensure our providers and service recipients are treated fairly in the managed care system. We appreciate their ongoing efforts for our providers and consumers!

Sarena and JB started developing a system several months in advance to be prepared for OHCA Sooner Select Managed Care. They managed strong relationships with other state agencies and have facilitated effective payment reconciliation. Their commitment to integrity and accountability is evident in their regular team meetings, which promote collaboration and positive outcomes for all providers involved. The HR team is essential in supporting managers and staff throughout the employee life cycle, ensuring efficient operations and excellent service. Legislation was passed that transferred the ownership of all job descriptions and titles to OMES and this team has worked tirelessly on reviewing over 400 job descriptions! Their ongoing efforts focus on creating clear career development pathways and aligning positions with safety and quality standards, strengthening employee expectations and agency excellence. Susan is a dedicated Registered Nurse, known for her exceptional commitment to client care, including their families and pets. Her compassionate nature and ability to connect with clients make her a trusted resource. Susan's proactive approach ensures clients stay engaged in their recovery, and she advocates tirelessly for their needs, enhancing both office efficiency and the overall well-being of those she serves. Nazir is a natural leader. If he sees something that needs to be done, he takes care of it. He orders supplies, he responds to crisis situations, he trains staff, and he runs Shift Report and the daily Wrap Up meeting. Nazir has also been willing to tackle complex performance improvement projects and always asks “how can I support you” when he knows there is a challenging situation going on in the building. His offer to help is welcome because his colleagues know his work will be to the highest standard. Thank you, Nazir!
David is an outstanding Mental Health Technician recognized for his dedication to exceptional care. He has a calming presence and is an effective communicator that help guide consumers through difficult moments, even during crises. His character shined when he intervened during an incident between two consumers in an effort to make them feel safe. During this incident, David was injured, and he stopped his care and took a few moments to reassure his young consumers were safe. This example demonstrates his character, a natural born leader and educator. David's humility and respect for everyone he encounters create a peaceful workplace atmosphere. We are grateful to have him on our team!
Amy is a Children’s case manager and is someone who gives 110% every single day for her clients and their families. She has the unique ability to personalize behavioral modifications and set realistic goals that demonstrates her genuine care for her clients. Additionally, Amy continually seeks to enhance the services she provides. Her enthusiasm, compassion, and unwavering commitment make her an invaluable member of the Children's department and a strong advocate for her clients. Emmett is a dedicated employee to ODMHSAS and the community. He enthusiastically joined the 988 crisis team, where he actively learned processes and trained new staff. Crystal Leonhart has been a dedicated member of our team for six years at Bridges to Recovery, the Urgent Response Center, and Mobile Crisis. Her ability to connect with individuals in crisis has greatly impacted many lives. Crystal has demonstrated a positive work ethic, volunteering for extra shifts and supporting her colleagues. Sierra conducts herself with integrity, earning the trust to manage projects independently as a representative of our agency in the community. She has gone above and beyond by taking a special interest in the Native Amercian population and sought additional trainings to expand her education in that area. Mary started as the lead RN and has since taken the role of Nurse Manager, earning respect as a leader for consumer care. James Acosta is the dedicated supervisor of our fire and safety department and is one of the first to be at a situation that might require a restraint on our units, but due to his excellent verbal de-escalations tools has helped lower the number of restraints and seclusions at one of our facilities. With his military background, James effectively leads teams and resolves IT issues, ensuring smooth operations. No matter what task James has been doing for ODMHSAS, he has always projected our organizations vision of caring for patients and staff. We're lucky to have you, James!
Marsha exemplifies integrity and compassion, making a profound impact on our patients and staff. Her support for colleagues and positive attitude in challenging situations makes her an invaluable member of the ODMHSAS team. She has been able to talk patients down, preventing them from requiring physical holds, talking them through worries and helping them toward life-changing decisions. Ashley embodies our ICARE values in her daily interactions with Care Coordinators, staff, consumers, and community partners. In her supervisory role, she effectively addresses crises and has significantly improved training and feedback systems, empowering her team with constructive guidance. The Recreation Department offers a large variety of therapeutic outlets for the consumers regarding their mental and physical well-being. With staff being trained accordingly, the consumers can “take a break” and let off steam by working out, stimulate their brains in games and/or bring their creative thoughts to life during Recreation groups. Staff enjoys taking consumers to Recreation groups as they can see their relaxation and satisfaction while in the game room or gym. We couldn’t do any of this without the Recreation Department and in my opinion the recognition is well deserved considering the time, effort and heart put into this facility and all its consumers.

Lindy exemplifies professionalism and exceptional customer service. Her compassion for the role has earned her numerous compliments from clients and families. Always reliable, Lindy efficiently manages consumer property and ensures her colleagues have the supplies they need. This team ensures each client’s concerns are addressed and ongoing support referrals are provided, reflecting their dedication to exceptional and respectful patient care. Always working effectively and efficiently to make sure patients have the best quality care.

The Care Coordination team supports high-need individuals, including those recently discharged from hospitals, involved in the justice system, or experiencing homelessness. This team utilizes available data sources and in order to determine the care coordination team’s effectiveness, they collaborated with our DSS team to better serve consumers. The DSS team worked interactively with the care coordination team to understand the work they do and the population they serve. Together, they were able to demonstrate the difference care coordination makes in the lives of people with complex needs. Great work, team!
Tyler surpasses expectations in problem-solving and improving organizational culture. He is always willing to help, he fosters collaboration across shifts and supports new and existing staff with kindness. Tyler supports the efforts of a combined Mobile Response team for adults and children and has worked hard to gather and present informational data to ensure that teams are trained on the administrative processes and pathways of crisis work. Julie, Paula, and Katie work tirelessly to make sure patients are safe from self-harm. The ladies highlighted difficulties with the lack of essential tools in one spot. This feedback resulted in the implementation of “Code Blue Bags” on every unit, enhancing client safety and increasing nurses' confidence in managing emergencies at psychiatric hospitals. Nursing and Pharmacy leaders of GMH have established a “Dream Team.” In an effort to improve consumer services, the team introduced 24/7 admissions nurses, resulting in numerous improvements. Additionally, admissions staff no longer has to handle medications leading to safer and effective inventory and storage of home medications. The “Handy Hygiene” project was a collaboration among QA/PI departments to improve hand hygiene practices This team started a facility wide Infection Control Committee that included staff from several departments throughout the facility and developed small PowerPoints based on CDC facts surrounding hand hygiene and began to send those out monthly to all staff. Jeremy’s journey to his recovery has been remarkable. Starting as a mental health technician, he now works on the Community Response Team as a Certified Peer Recovery Support Specialist. Jeremy shared his story with the DMH board, he disclosed dying by overdose twice, for over five minutes. Those life events prompted him to make life changes. Staff strive to ensure there are no barriers for those presenting for care, regardless of how or why they are presenting and if there are barriers, work diligently to problem-solve, involve partners and remove those barriers to best meet the needs of the consumer. OCCIC/OCRU has worked to improve relationships with community partners and stakeholders, leading to increased satisfaction, coordination of care and ultimately better service to consumers. They strive to meet the consumer needs by getting them to appropriate and often life-saving services such as housing and substance use treatment.
