Event License Guide

Event licenses cover temporary or one-time occasions where alcoholic beverages are sold or served by the drink, including Special Event, Public Event, and off-site options for nonprofits, for-profit businesses, or organizations hosting gatherings.

Disclaimer: All of the information contained below comes directly from the Oklahoma State Statutes that govern the licenses provided for in the ABC Act in Title 37A. This information is strictly for guidance and may not be a comprehensive list of all authorizations provided for a particular license. Please reference the statutory information provided for full details.

Event License Types:

Authorizes a charitable organization exempt from taxation under  Section 501(c)(3), (4), (5), (6), (7), (8), (9), (10) or (19) of the US Internal Revenue Code to conduct a wine, spirit, and/or beer-tasting event or dinner event to be conducted for charitable purposes.

The event license allows attendees access to tastings, samples, dinners, and alcoholic beverages as part of their entrance fee or ticket price. Wine, spirits, and/or beer used for the event may be purchased by the charitable organization or donated.

  • Letter from IRS granting tax exempt status under 501(c) and letter assigning the Federal Employer Identification number
  • Meeting minutes electing officers and directors of the non-profit corporation
  • Articles of Incorporation showing Non-Profit status from the Oklahoma Secretary of State
  • Outdoor Events: Location Diagram 
Allowable Entity: Section 501(c)(3), (4), (5), (6), (7), (8), (9), (10) or (19) tax exempt organization
Intended Use Cases: Charitable Non-Profit Fundraisers

Authorizes a charitable organization exempt from taxation under Section 501(c)(3), (4), (5), (6), (7), (8), (9), (10) or (19) of the US Internal Revenue Code to conduct a wine, spirit, and/or beer auction (live or silent). Wine, spirits, and/or beer may be purchased from a retail package store or received as a gift. 

The auction license period shall not exceed 2 days, and no more than 4 licenses shall be issued to an organization in a 12-month period. The amount of wine, spirits, and/or beer auctioned shall not exceed 50 gallons.

Intended Use Cases: Charitable Non-Profit Fundraisers

Authorizes the holder of a Brewer, Small Brewer, or Small Farm Winery license to host an off-site event up to 4 times per year to sell for consumption at the event alcoholic beverages authorized under the licensee’s respective license.

Allowable Entity: Individual/Sole Proprietor, Limited Liability Company, Corporation, General Partnership, Limited Partnership, Tribe or Tribal Corporation
Intended Use Cases: General Events for Brewer, Small Brewer, or Small Farm Winery

Authorizes the sale and distribution of mixed beverages for on-premises consumption at up to 6 public events within 1 calendar year. Each event may last no more than 3 consecutive days, and the applicant must apply at least (60) days before the first event. The holder of a Public Event Annual license shall give the ABLE Commission written notice 10 days before each event. This license cannot be used as a substitute for a mixed beverage license.

Allowable Entity: For profit businesses, excluding wholesalers, distributors, manufacturers, and retail spirits
Intended Use Cases: Concerts, Bike Nights, Football Games

Authorizes the sale and distribution of mixed beverages for on-premises consumption at a single public event. An event may last no more than 3 consecutive days, and the applicant must apply at least (60) days before the event. The holder of a Public Event One-Time license shall give the ABLE Commission written notice 10 days before the event. This license cannot be used as a substitute for a mixed beverage license.

Allowable Entity: For profit businesses, excluding wholesalers, distributors, manufacturers, and retail spirits
Intended Use Cases: Concerts, Bike Nights, Football Games, Rodeos, Tournaments

Authorizes the holder to sell and distribute mixed beverages for on-premises consumption at up to four events within a one-year period, with no more than two events in any three-month period. Each event under this license may last no more than 10 consecutive days. The holder of a Special Event - Annual license shall give the ABLE Commission written notice 10 days before each event.

Authorizes the holder to sell and distribute mixed beverages for on-site consumption for up to 3 events to be held over a period not to exceed 3 months. Each event may last no more than 10 consecutive days. The holder of a Special Event - Quarterly license shall give the ABLE Commission written notice 10 days before each event.
