OMES working to restore service for state agencies impacted by CrowdStrike outage

Friday, July 19, 2024

OKLAHOMA CITY – The Office of Management and Enterprise Services, which oversees the state IT network, is working to restore services at several Oklahoma agencies that were affected by a CrowdStrike software update. The cybersecurity vendor pushed the update to multiple state assets, including servers and employee workstations. This event was not a breach and state systems are secure. However, the software update caused a global impact, which is also felt in Oklahoma.

"Like many organizations around the world, the State of Oklahoma has been impacted by this outage," said Joe McIntosh, state chief information officer. "OMES began working to resolve systems shortly after midnight and is following our defined disaster recovery procedures to bring state assets back online in a systematic and prioritized manner focusing on public safety, life safety systems and citizen service impacts.”

Agencies are encouraged to contact the OMES Service Desk as we work together to the resolve outage.
