Technology partnership event nets big win for Oklahoma’s cybersecurity community

It was standing room only at OMES Oklahoma Cyber Command’s second OK-ISAC Symposium, held on Oct. 19 as 1 of 5 special events featured during InnoTech Oklahoma. The annual technology and innovation conference is hosted each October to align with Cybersecurity Awareness Month, and the 2022 event welcomed over 1,000 attendees and numerous cybersecurity suppliers to the Oklahoma City Convention Center for a day of networking and learning.
OMES Oklahoma Cyber Command started building a cybersecurity community in Oklahoma a few years ago to help improve the security posture of all Oklahoma organizations. The Oklahoma Information Sharing and Analysis Center (OK-ISAC) serves as the flagship of this mission, offering free membership access to regional public and private company cybersecurity professionals to assist with real-time monitoring, vulnerability identification, incident response and sharing of cyber-threat intelligence.
The OK-ISAC Symposium is an event focused on cybersecurity education in Oklahoma, offering key takeaways on what citizens can do to protect their own data by connecting them with available resources. Over 120 OK-ISAC members attended the symposium free of charge, thanks to the InnoTech Oklahoma partnership and event sponsors.
Symposium speakers included Christopher Wright, mission manager and director of the Department of Homeland Security Intelligence and Analysis Mission Center; OMES Oklahoma Cyber Command team members; and private sector partners Deloitte, Anomali, CrowdStrike, Flashpoint, Splunk, Mimecast, Zscaler and Go Security Pro. Presentation topics ranged from cyber-threat intelligence and zero-trust security to artificial intelligence and incident response for modern hackers.
“With over 1,000 Oklahoma technology professionals in attendance this year, InnoTech Oklahoma is extremely proud to have hosted the second-annual OK-ISAC Symposium and will continue to support the Oklahoma cybersecurity initiative,” InnoTech Oklahoma Executive Director Sean Lowery said. “We are already excited and planning for the next event happening Oct. 18, 2023.”
