In accordance with the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (USDHS), today Gov. Brad Henry lowered the Oklahoma Homeland Security Threat Level from High Condition ("Orange") to Elevated Condition ("Yellow") for mass transit across the state. The threat level was raised to "orange" on July 7, 2005, after the London terrorist attacks.
The change in alert status will take affect at 8:00 p.m. (08/12/05) after the rush hour commute.
USDHS will continue monitoring intelligence information stemming from the London attacks, although there is no evidence that a threat to the U.S. mass transit system is imminent. Federal authorities will maintain coordination efforts with state, local and private sector partners in an attempt to address potential vulnerabilities to passenger rail and bus systems.
