Oklahoma Department of Emergency Management Launches Interactive Website
The Oklahoma Department of Emergency Management (OEM) launched a new website that gives the public access to valuable information about emergency management resources and services across the state.
The website helps agency staff to distribute timely information in the event of a disaster. Agency staff can use a Web-based administrative tool enabling the creation of pages or news releases on the site from any computer with Internet access. The administrative tool was designed to speed the release of valuable information and tools to the public and enable such maintenance outside of a traditional office location.
In addition to the website, the public or emergency managers at any level of government can search a database of training events offered through the Department of Emergency Management or the Office of Homeland Security. Emergency managers may also submit emergency management or Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) events for inclusion in the training calendar.
"As another severe weather season draws near, we are reminded how essential it is to keep the public informed," said Albert Ashwood, OEM director. "The new website lets up keep the public informed in a quick, efficient manner."
The Web site is the result of a partnership between OEM and OK.gov, Oklahoma's official Web site managed by eGovernment firm NIC (Nasdaq: EGOV).
"The Emergency Management website is modeled after OK.gov," said Lisa Counts, OK.gov general manager. "By providing simple navigation and access to new content, OEM is working to serve the public through effective means."
