In an effort to continue to raise awareness regarding severe spring weather, Oklahoma Emergency Management is once again teaming up with McDonald's and many others for McReady Oklahoma! The program combines severe weather preparedness strategies as well as floodplain and weather radio tips and delivers them in a family environment where visitors are likely to take notice and get involved.
The program features preparedness-themed tray liners and bag inserts as well as display racks with posters and brochures which are displayed in more than 140 participating McDonald's across the state. This program started in 2003 when the City of Tulsa's Citizen Corp successfully launched it in Tulsa and some areas to the east and southeast. In 2004 the program was taken statewide in an effort to enjoy the same success.
In addition to the Oklahoma Department of Emergency Management and McDonald's, participants include American Red Cross, MOROCH, National Weather Service, OG&E Electric Services, Oklahoma Citizen Corps, Oklahoma Emergency Management Association, Oklahoma Floodplain Managers Association, The Oklahoman, News 9, The News on 6, R.D. Flanagan & Associates, The Salvation Army, and Tulsa's Mayor's Citizen Corps/Tulsa Partners, Inc.
McReady Oklahoma Partners are available for presentations to civic meetings and other community events. We are eager to help you get the word out regarding tornado, lightning, flood and other severe weather safety issues.
