Elevator Code Variance -
Hearing Impaired Requirements for Elevator Installations/Modernization

The Oklahoma Department of Labor has determined that the elevator communication device for the Hearing Impaired that was recently added into existing code (ASME 17.2.27.1.1.3 Hearing Impaired & IBC 3001.2) will not be enforced on existing elevator installations and modernization in Oklahoma until further notice.

Enforcement of the new code will resume at some future point after further review and industry notice.
