Oklahoma Broadband Office Announces Completion of KanOkla Projects

Friday, October 30, 2026

OKLAHOMA CITY – The Oklahoma Broadband Office (OBO) is celebrating the completion of two broadband expansion projects by KanOkla funded through Oklahoma’s American Rescue Plan Act State and Local Fiscal Recovery Fund (ARPA SLFRF) broadband program.

The two projects will bring high-speed fiber-optic internet service to 213 locations in the towns of Cherokee and Medford in the northern Oklahoma counties of Alfalfa and Grant.

KanOkla received approximately $1.94 million for the projects, which expand reliable broadband infrastructure in rural communities and strengthen access to high-speed internet for homes and businesses across the project areas.

“Projects like these are especially important in rural parts of Oklahoma, where dependable broadband infrastructure can make a meaningful difference for families, businesses and entire communities,” said Mike Sanders, Executive Director of the Oklahoma Broadband Office. “We appreciate KanOkla’s partnership and their work to bring fiber connectivity to more Oklahomans in Alfalfa and Grant counties.”

With construction complete, locations within the project areas now have access to fiber-optic broadband capable of supporting work, education, health care, business growth and other essential online services. Residents can see which internet providers serve their home or business by typing in their address on the Internet Availability Map.

In 2022, the Oklahoma Legislature allocated ARPA SLFRF funding to the Oklahoma Broadband Office to ensure that at least 95% of Oklahomans have access to high-speed internet. The completion of these projects marks the continued success of that statewide effort. The OBO continues to work with broadband providers across the state to complete federally funded infrastructure projects and fulfill its legislative mandate.
