The Oklahoma ABLE Commission regulates the sale, distribution, and service of alcoholic beverages through a variety of licenses and permits tailored to different business needs—from manufacturers and wholesalers to retailers, on-premises establishments, caterers, and special events.

This guide offers concise descriptions of each main license type, along with direct links to detailed permit guides, and resources to help you navigate the process smoothly and stay compliant with state laws. Whether you’re starting a new brewery, opening a bar, or hosting a one-time event, you’ll find the information you need right here to get licensed efficiently through our online portal.

License Types:

Required documents by License Type can be found in the License Guides.

Individual licenses are required for employees who sell, serve, mix, or handle alcoholic beverages in licensed establishments, ensuring they meet age, training, and background requirements to promote responsible service.

Charity licenses allow qualified nonprofit organizations to serve or auction alcoholic beverages at fundraising events, with options like Charitable Alcoholic Beverage Event or Charitable Auction licenses to support community causes while complying with strict limits.

Event licenses cover temporary or one-time occasions where alcoholic beverages are sold or served by the drink, including Special Event, Public Event, and off-site options for nonprofits, for-profit businesses, or organizations hosting gatherings.

Business licenses are designed for ongoing commercial operations, such as manufacturers (brewers, distillers, winemakers), wholesalers, retailers (spirits, beer, wine), mixed beverage establishments, caterers, and other permanent venues involved in the production, distribution, or sale of alcoholic beverages.

Miscellaneous licenses include specialized or less common authorizations, such as airline/railroad beverage, hotel beverage, sacramental wine supplier, agent’s licenses, or other niche permits that don’t fit standard manufacturer, wholesale, retail, or event categories.
