The Office of Management and Enterprise Services is excited to introduce former state Rep. Charles Ortega in his new role as government relations director.

“I am extremely excited to continue working for Oklahoma constituents in moving government to a more streamlined and efficient service,” Ortega said. “Oklahomans should and must know that government exists to serve, and we owe it to them to provide services in the most efficient way possible. OMES leads the effort every day in providing solutions to issues and executing strategies vital to the future growth and stability of our great state. I am proud for the opportunity to work alongside them to ‘Get Stuff Done’ for the State of Oklahoma.”

Previously, Ortega served 12 years in the Oklahoma House of Representatives, representing House District 52 from 2008 to 2020.

“We are thrilled to have Charles join the team,” said Steven Harpe, Oklahoma’s chief operating officer and OMES executive director. “Our legislative partners are key to the success of OMES in our service to other state agencies. I believe he will play a key role in helping us know how to best communicate and navigate the legislative process so OMES can be the best partner possible.”

“As a legislator, Charles focused on forging important partnerships between legislative and executive leadership,” said OMES Deputy Director Dana Webb. “For over a decade, I have had the opportunity to work closely with him each legislative session to find improvements for state operations. I am honored he has joined our team to continue the efforts he worked so hard on during his time in the Legislature.”

In his new position, Ortega will report to OMES Director of Legislative and Public Affairs Caden Cleveland and will be responsible for tracking legislation and being among the main OMES points of contact for the Legislature. Ortega assumed his role with the agency on Dec. 28, 2021.

“Charles has been a great partner for many years, and I’m thrilled he is willing to serve our state yet again,” Cleveland said. “His knowledge and skillset offers our leadership team insight and experience that we believe will drive even more efficiencies and strategic innovations in services for our partners.”
