Licensing for Military Members, Veterans and Spouses

The Oklahoma Board of Nursing (Board) has adopted rules and guidelines to assist active military and active military spouses in obtaining nursing licensure in a streamlined manner. Active military and active military spouses receive a personalized evaluation of the application submitted and professional advice regarding the most direct path to obtain nursing licensure.

Military Spouse Relocation to Oklahoma

Pursuant to 59 O.S. Section 567.11(8), a nurse who has an active, unencumbered license from another state or territory, who has no health-related license in a disciplinary status, and who is relocating to Oklahoma pursuant to a spouse’s official military orders, may practice nursing in this state for 120 days from the date the application and fees for licensure are submitted to the Oklahoma Board of Nursing. Application and payment of fees must be done prior to employment in this state and the nurse must provide the employer satisfactory evidence of a current, unencumbered license in another state or territory.
