Fairview Municipal Airport Celebrates Completion of New Aircraft Hangars

FAIRVIEW, Okla. — The City of Fairview, Fairview Municipal Airport and the Oklahoma Department of Aerospace and Aeronautics (ODAA) today celebrated the completion of three new aircraft hangars with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at Fairview Municipal Airport.
The $1.86 million project added three 60-by-60-foot box hangars, significantly expanding aircraft storage and operational capacity. One of the new facilities will house Bearhawk Aircraft, supporting the company’s manufacturing and builder-assist programs in Fairview.
“Bringing our business back home to Fairview is a deeply personal milestone. With the incredible backing of the state, we’ve built a hangar facility to expand Bearhawk’s manufacturing and builder-assist programs,” said Virgil Irwin, owner of Bearhawk Aircraft. “This ribbon cutting is more than a company milestone — it’s a celebration of returning to my roots and contributing to Major County.”
The project also included new concrete apron and taxiway access, drainage improvements, pavement markings and other supporting site work.
“This is exactly the kind of investment we want to see at Oklahoma’s community airports,” said ODAA Executive Director Grayson Ardies. “We’re adding needed infrastructure, creating room for aviation businesses to grow and helping communities like Fairview turn their airports into stronger economic assets. The fact that these new facilities are already supporting business expansion demonstrates the real impact of investing in our statewide airport system.”
Fairview Municipal Airport serves as an important transportation and economic asset for the community and surrounding region. Investments in hangars and airfield infrastructure help airports retain locally based aircraft, accommodate additional aviation activity, and provide the facilities needed to attract and support aviation-related businesses.
The three new hangars each feature a 60-foot-by-60-foot footprint and large bi-fold aircraft doors designed to accommodate a range of general aviation aircraft.
“This project represents another important step forward for Fairview Municipal Airport and our community,” said Fairview Vice Mayor Chuck Lipps. “We’re proud to welcome Bearhawk Aircraft back home and excited about what these new hangars can mean for future growth at the airport. Investments like this strengthen Fairview’s ability to support local businesses, attract new opportunities and continue building for the future.”
The project was developed through a partnership involving the City of Fairview, the Federal Aviation Administration, and ODAA, and builds on ongoing efforts to ensure Oklahoma’s community airports have the infrastructure needed to serve pilots, businesses, and residents while supporting economic opportunity across the state.
