Supporting a statewide system of public airports that connects communities, commerce and careers.
Empowered and directed to encourage, foster, and assist in the development of aviation and aerospace in the state and to encourage the establishment of airports and air navigation facilities, one of the Department’s primary duties is to support Oklahoma’s airport system comprising 108 publicly-owned airports.
The Department accomplishes this by investing in the five-year airport construction program, completing routine safety and standards inspections, conducting pavement inspections, helping airports with long-term planning and strategy, and assisting airports with hosting celebrations and fly-ins
