Tobacco Settlement Endowment Trust Helps Improve Wellness Opportunities
Healthy Incentive Grants incentivize healthy lifestyle choices for schools and communities
Tobacco Settlement Endowment Trust (TSET) staff visited three northeastern Oklahoma cities on Thursday, Oct. 22 to witness projects made possible by TSET Healthy Incentive Grants to improve local health and wellness.
Jay Public Schools leveraged a $50,000 award to purchase and install new playground equipment and a shade canopy at Jay Elementary School. State Sen. Tom Woods (R-Westville) joined school officials and TSET staff in celebration of the new structures.
Fort Gibson Public Schools purchased new automated external defibrillators for their district using an $18,679 award from TSET. The medical devices enhance STEM-focused classrooms and serve as a safety net for athletic and other physically intensive events.
The City of Jenks purchased wayfinding signage with a $120,000 award to help guide residents and visitors through the city’s expansive trails and walkways. State Rep. Mark Tedford (R-Jenks) joined city and TSET staff in examining the site’s signage.
TSET Healthy Incentive Grants are available to Oklahoma communities and school districts that adopt policies and strategies to promote wellness and encourage healthy eating, physical activity and tobacco-free lifestyles.
Applications are currently open for eligible communities through 4 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 18, 2026.
TSET offers two application periods per fiscal year for communities, and two separate application periods per fiscal year for school districts. The next application period for school districts will open Jan. 5, 2027.
