Judicious Prescribing Course

Continuing Education Requirements:
- All Oklahoma licensed optometrists are required to obtain twenty-five (25) hours of continuing education annually. Included in the twenty-five (25) hours are a maximum of six (6) Practice Management hours, and a maximum of six (6) Remote Learning hours (which includes internet hours), and a minimum of one (1) Judicious Prescribing hour.
- Up to 15 hours may be by virtual live CE but still must be through an approved vendor source.
- A minimum of 10 hours must be in a traditional live in person classroom setting from an approved vendor.
- All 25 required hours may be attained in a classroom setting.
- All 25 hours must be from an approved vendor. Refer to the law or the list below for the approved vendors list.
- The requirement for the JP hour has not changed and may be completed remotely, virtually, or in person and must be from an approved vendor. Refer to the law or the list below for approved vendors for the JP hour and all other CE.
- Current CPR is required at the time of renewal. Online CPR is accepted. The American Red Cross and the American Heart Association are reliable sources for CPR certification, though other CPR certification sources are accepted.
- All CE and CPR documentation can be emailed to optboard@optometry.ok.gov or faxed to our office at 405-522-0645.
***If you choose not to take the 6 remote hours, you can take up to 15 virtual live CE or take all hours live in person through an approved vendor.

Any Optometrist desiring approval of any other program must make a written request for approval to the Office of the Board of Examiners in Optometry at least forty-five (45) days before he or she attends such program.
