Governor Kevin Stitt, along with OMES Oklahoma Information Sharing and Analysis Center (OK-ISAC) and Cyber Command, will participate in the 21st Annual National Cybersecurity Awareness Month campaign.

On Aug. 5, Gov. Stitt proclaimed October 2024 as Cybersecurity Awareness Month. This recognition emphasizes the State of Oklahoma’s vital role in identifying, protecting citizens from and responding to cybersecurity threats impacting safety and privacy.

In 2023, the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) launched the Secure Our World program, which will be the enduring theme for all future Cybersecurity Awareness Months. This initiative emphasizes the importance of taking daily action to reduce online risks. It focuses on four key areas: creating and using strong passwords, employing multifactor authentication (MFA), updating systems and software, and identifying potential phishing scams.

Practicing these measures is crucial for personal and professional security. In the workplace, Secret Server, the state’s standard password manager, stores passwords and can also generate strong passwords. Additionally, it's important to ensure MFA is in place for personal devices.

Regularly updating devices and software is essential. In Outlook, you can utilize the Phish Alert Report button to identify and report phishing attempts. Cybersecurity requires a collaborative approach; everyone must contribute to #SecureOklahoma.

If your agency would like to become an Oklahoma Champion and attest to participating in the Secure Our World initiative, please complete this form. Champion agencies are dedicated to practicing good cybersecurity habits and will be displayed on the OK-ISAC website.
