Oklahoma state employees give to the 2021 State Charitable Campaign

Monday, October 18, 2021

Oklahoma’s State Employee Charitable Campaign is underway and so far, OMES has raised a total of $4,660. This philanthropic tradition dates back to 1989 and supports local organizations that serve thousands of people throughout Oklahoma each year.

Even before COVID turned our world on its head, many of our fellow Oklahomans had their worlds turned upside down by disease, hunger, abuse, poverty and homelessness,” said J.D. Strong, SCC campaign chair and director of the Oklahoma Department of Wildlife Conservation. “In many ways, we are fortunate to be state employees. We have stable jobs, and we’re here because we’re passionate about public service. Now more than ever, the public needs us."

The 2021 campaign was aptly named "Back in the Saddle Again," knowing many experienced their own struggles in 2020. While some try to pull themselves up by their bootstraps, we are offering our hand to help them recover.

“While 2020 was a tough year to mount an effective campaign, state employees dug deep and still raised more than $320,000,” Director Strong said. “As many of us bounce back from the ugly grip of COVID, we know others who may need our assistance. This is where state employees and the member charities supported by the State Charitable Campaign can help.”

This year, the state’s goal is $421,000.

“The Office of Management and Enterprise Services’ purpose is to serve those who serve Oklahomans, and I am proud to see we are living out that mission by supporting the various charitable organizations,” said OMES Deputy Director Dana Webb. “State employees can make donations to their favorite charitable organizations through the convenience of payroll deduction or one-time gifts.”

If you're still on the fence and want to learn more, the State Charitable Campaign is hosting a new virtual event on Thursday, Oct. 21, at 11:30 a.m.
