OCCY Names Dr. Mary Stockett as New Chief Child Abuse Examiner

Mary Ellen Stockett, MD, a Child Abuse Pediatrician and Assistant Professor at the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center Department of Pediatrics, will serve as the Oklahoma Commission on Children and Youth’s (OCCY) next Chief Child Abuse Examiner.

Dr. Stockett is board-certified in Pediatrics and Child Abuse Pediatrics by the American Board of Pediatrics. She has more than 20 years of experience in teaching and providing clinical services to maltreated children in Florida and Oklahoma. Dr. Stockett is an Assistant Clinical Professor at the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center. Dr. Stockett is currently part of a program that educates students from various disciplines on child maltreatment.

“Dr. Stockett’s expertise in reporting, identifying, and training about child abuse and child maltreatment in Oklahoma is a great addition to OCCY,” said Annette Wisk Jacobi, OCCY Executive Director. “The children, youth, and families of Oklahoma have already benefitted from her contributions and will continue to do so as our Chief Child Abuse Examiner.”

In her new role, Dr. Stockett will assist OCCY in providing training and educational programs to various medical practitioners and OCCY stakeholders regarding child maltreatment identification and reporting. She will serve as an active member of OCCY’s Board of Child Abuse Examiners as well as its State Child Death Review Board. In collaboration with OCCY and its partners, Dr. Stockett will also provide child maltreatment medical reviews and reports for child deaths that occur within Oklahoma.

Dr. Stockett officially started her role as Chief Child Abuse Examiner on April 20, 2021.
