Dress Code Reminder

Temperatures are warming up and the sun is coming out, but please remember to enjoy your flip-flops and tank tops after hours. All Service Oklahoma employees are expected to dress in a professional, business casual manner that reflects our commitment to best-in-class service. Additionally, your state-issued ID badge must be worn and visible at all times. Staff appearance and clothing should be clean, well-kept and appropriate for the workplace. Items like flip-flops, sweatpants, workout gear, hats (unless approved) and clothing with offensive graphics are not acceptable.

For more details, be sure to review the complete Dress Code Policy (SOK-03) or check with your supervisor if you have questions about what is considered appropriate.

Distracted Driving Awareness Month

April is National Distracted Driving Awareness Month!

According to The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, distracted driving is defined as any activity that diverts attention from the primary task of driving, whether visual, manual or cognitive. This includes interacting with passengers, eating and drinking, grooming yourself, adjusting in-car settings like the radio or GPS or simply drifting off in thought while driving.

Data from 2023 shows:

- 3,275 people were killed in distracted driving crashes, 611 non-occupants (pedestrians, cyclists and others) were killed in distraction-affected traffic crashes and 324,819 were injured in traffic crashes involving distracted drivers.

- 8% of fatal crashes, an estimated 13% of injury crashes and an estimated 13% of all police-reported traffic crashes were reported as distraction-affected.

- 7% of drivers ages 15 to 20 years old who were involved in fatal crashes were reported as distracted.

Stay safe on the road with these tips:

- Activate your phone’s “Do Not Disturb” or “Drive Focus” feature, silence notifications or keep your device out of reach until you arrive at your destination.

- Adopt a “park-first” rule. If a task requires your hands or your full attention, pull over safely before completing it.

Distracted driving isn’t just about dramatic or obviously dangerous behaviors. In reality, the most common distractions are often small, routine actions that many drivers consider harmless. Be an example to your family and friends by putting your phone away when behind the wheel.
