This 30 hour Basic Level Field Training Officer (FTO) School is designed for law enforcement professionals and focuses on the San Jose Model of Field Training, along with modified applications. The course covers key topics including FTO program objectives and philosophy, communication skills, adult learning principles, roles and responsibilities of the FTO, program structure, evaluation methods, remedial training, legal considerations, program administration, and strategies for addressing generational differences. Instructional methods include group exercises, case studies, scenario-based learning, and role-playing to enhance readiness, strengthen instructional effectiveness, and improve trainee retention. *Limited to 30 students. *Agency Approval letter/email required (see attached).
