TSET Leads Statewide Effort to Support Healthier Living in the New Year

Monday, December 22, 2025

The start of a new year gives families across Oklahoma a chance to make simple, healthy changes. The Tobacco Settlement Endowment Trust (TSET) offers free programs that support Oklahomans who want to quit tobacco, improve their nutrition or add more physical activity to their day.

“Healthy routines can begin with one small step. When someone chooses to quit tobacco, eat better or move more, the benefits start almost right away,” said Julie Bisbee, TSET executive director. “Tobacco use is still the number one preventable cause of death in Oklahoma, and many families face barriers to healthy food and safe places to be active. Supporting Oklahomans with free, easy-to-use tools is central to TSET’s mission to improve health across our state.”

For Oklahomans looking to be more active, TSET’s Shape Your Future offers simple ways to add movement throughout the day. The site also provides healthy recipes and an activity quiz that matches people with routines that fit their lifestyle. These small changes can increase energy, support mental well-being and help families stay healthy in the year ahead.

One of the most effective free tools is the Oklahoma Tobacco Helpline, a TSET program that provides nicotine replacement therapy such as patches, gum and lozenges. The Helpline also offers personalized coaching calls, text messages and email support to help people become tobacco free in 2026.

Youth ages 13 to 17 who want to quit tobacco or nicotine can participate in My Life, My Quit™, funded in Oklahoma through the TSET Healthy Youth Initiative. My Life, My Quit offers a Start My Quit quiz, text support, live chat and one-on-one help designed for teens who want to break free from nicotine.

Enrollment is open for Quit the Hit, another program funded through the TSET Healthy Youth Initiative. The program gives teens and young adults ages 13 to 24 free help to quit vaping by offering Instagram-based support, simple steps for reducing nicotine and encouragement from trained coaches and peers. Students can enroll today and begin working toward a healthier, tobacco-free future.

With support available statewide, TSET programs make healthy changes possible for all Oklahomans. Whether someone wants to quit tobacco, try a new recipe or add more movement to their routine, free resources are available to help them succeed.

TSET also funds community grants, healthy living initiatives, school programs and medical research that strengthen health across Oklahoma. These investments help reduce tobacco use, improve nutrition, increase physical activity and support long-term well-being in towns and cities statewide. Information about current and upcoming funding opportunities can be found at Oklahoma.gov/TSET/funding.
