The Oklahoma State Archives is the official repository for essential state government records (65 O.S. § 3-102). In conjunction with the Archives and Records Commission, the State Archives appraises, selects, and preserves state government records with enduring historical value and provides access to them for state employees, researchers, and the public.
The Archives also administers a records management program for state agencies that applies efficient and economical management methods to the creation, utilization, maintenance, retention, preservation and disposal of state records (67 O.S. § 6-204). The Archives also supports state government by offering cost-effective storage for state agency records at the State Records Center.
