Medicare Supplement Plans

Promoting and protecting the health of our members by providing healthcare plans.

HealthChoice SilverScript Medicare supplement plans provide supplemental benefits to Medicare Part A and Part B. Benefits are adjusted Jan. 1 of each year to coincide with Medicare. These plans provide Part D prescription drug coverage through our partnership with CVS Caremark and their SilverScript Employer Prescription Drug Plan.

HealthChoice SilverScript High and Low Medicare Supplement plans offer the same Medicare supplement medical benefits for both plans. The difference in the high and low plans is in the pharmacy coverage.

The HealthChoice medical benefits are paid as if you are enrolled in both Medicare Part A and Part B. If you are not enrolled in Medicare, HealthChoice estimates Medicare’s benefits and provides coverage as if Medicare were your primary insurance carrier.

The HealthChoice plans provide supplemental benefits for Medicare PART A (hospitalization) by paying:

  • The inpatient hospital deductible and coinsurance.
  • An additional 365 lifetime reserve days for hospitalization.
  • The coinsurance for skilled nursing facility days 21 through 100.

The HealthChoice plans provide supplemental benefits for Medicare PART B (medical) by paying:

  • Outpatient medical expenses.
  • Durable medical equipment.
  • No referral needed.
  • Limited outpatient prescription drugs.

Medicare Part D coverage:

The HealthChoice pharmacy benefit manager, SilverScript, is contracted with the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) to provide Medicare Part D Prescription Drug benefits. These Part D benefits are available through the HealthChoice SilverScript High and Low Option Medicare Supplement Plans. The HealthChoice Pharmacy Network includes more than 68,000 pharmacies nationwide.
