Law Enforcement Driver Training Instructor (56 hours): Pre-requisites: Must have a Basic Instructor Development Certification, and a letter of attendance from your agency. Required items to bring: Pursuit rated emergency vehicle equipped with emergency lights and siren. Vehicle needs to be in a good mechanical condition. Tires need to be in good condition with a speed rating of the speed capabilities of the vehicle. If your vehicle experiences mechanical failure or issues with brakes or tires occur, you will need to be able to get the vehicle fixed or have access to another vehicle in order to continue the training. You may want to consider bringing an extra set of tires. You will need the ability to fuel your vehicle as needed. Recommend removing any items or equipment that are not securable inside the vehicle or the trunk. If two officers from the same agency are attending the class, they can share the same agency vehicle. All vehicles will be inspected for safety by our mechanic. If your vehicle doesn't pass safety inspection it will not be allowed to used. During the course you will design a driving course of instruction and prepare a lesson plan, which you will present to the class. Laptop recommended. Helmets are required to be worn while driving the outer course. You can bring your own DOT approved helmet if you prefer to wear your own. We have helmets you can use if you don't have one. May want to bring rain gear and clothing to accommodate Oklahoma weather. Lodging and meals are not included for this course.
