Confidential Informant Management

Description

The purpose of this course is to introduce the Law Enforcement Officer to the basic concepts of use, documentation, and liability regarding confidential informants. The student will be able to clearly define what constitutes a confidential informant, identify the necessity for proper agency policy, identify and complete proper documentation, learn interview techniques specific to confidential informant operations, properly utilize operations planning, create and maintain proper informant files, and identify post-critical incident steps for operations involving informants. Attendance is restricted to current certified Law Enforcement Officers employed by a municipal, county, tribal, state, or federal law enforcement agency; or officials employed by a state District Attorney’s Office, United States Attorney’s Office, or state or tribal Attorney General’s Office. Credentials will be required for access. This OSBI training event qualifies for the Alaunna Raffield Scholarship Fund.
